JAZZ

Jazz classes include upbeat warm-ups, stretching, centre and across the floor progressions with an emphasis on technical elements and variations of choreography. Jazz dance has many sub-genres that include variations from broadway jazz to commercial/street Jazz. Jazz focuses on strong technique while incorporating style and creativity in movement.

Dress code: form fitted attire, tan jazz shoes and hair pulled back.

Ballet

Ballet classes offer a study of the theatrical art form using dancing, music, and scenery to convey a story, theme, or atmosphere. ballet technique includes conventional poses and steps which are combined with light flowing figures (such as leaps and turns). Ballet classes also offer a progression to pointe work when selected by the ballet faculty and artistic director.

Dress code: body suit with pink tights or form fitted ballet shirt with black tights, and ballet shoes. Hair in bun if able to do so.

Musical Theatre

Musical theater Classes combine music, songs, spoken dialog, and dance. come sing along to your favourite movie and broadway songs! This form of dancing emphasizes learning performance skills such as connecting with the audience and facial expressions.

Dress code: form fitted attire, hair pulled back.

Hip Hop

Hip-hop classes reflect the street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. It includes a wide range of hip hop styles including popping, locking, breaking and more.

Dress code: clean runners, baggy clothes, hair pulled back.

Acro

Acro Classes focus on flexibility, balance, strength, limbering and tumbling. Students will start with being introduced to the progressions for handstands, cartwheels, bridges, walkovers, balances and more. Once these fundamental skills are mastered, dancers can progress to advanced skills including aerials, handsprings when safe to do so. We strongly recommend dancers to also be enrolled in a technical training dance classes such as ballet, jazz etc.

Dress code: form fitted attire, hair in low bun or secure braids (as long as hair is not going to interfere with safety such as putting hands on hair when pushing up into a bridge, etc.).

Contemporary

Contemporary classes have a strong influence from Modern technique combined with ballet, jazz and lyrical. A strong emphasis is on the use of breath, contractions, and suspension and fall work.

Dress code: form fitted attire, hair pulled back.

Tap

in Tap classes, dancers will explore rhythm by using the sounds made with the toe or heel of the dancer’s tap shoes.  dancers will begin by learning basic concepts and rhythms while more advanced students will learn more intricate rhythms and combinations. Tap is an excellent class for dancers to learn rhythm and musicality.

Dress code: comfortable dance clothing (no jeans), black tap shoes, hair pulled back.

Conditioning & Wellness

In the conditioning and wellness classes, dancers will focus on their physical and mental training. this class includes stretch and strength conditioning, Injury Prevention, healthy nutrition and sleep education, performance enhancement imagery work and more. We understand the stress and pressures of the outside world and want to empower our dancers with the tools to conquer it all! This class is suitable for all youth athletes, not just dancers!

Dress code: form fitted attire, hair pulled back. bring layers (sweater/sweatpants) for non-movement classes.

lyrical

Lyrical classes are a combination of jazz isolations and lines with a classical delivery of ballet. dancers will explore movement in centre and across the floor, focusing on breath work, story-telling and execution of the movement.
